DWP announces £324 cost of living payment dates for remaining claimants

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed when those on tax credits will receive their second cost of living payment. The UK government is rolling out a £324 cost of living payment to millions of households next month, the second in a support package worth a total of £650 announced earlier this year.

Earlier this summer millions of people on means-tested benefits such as universal credit, income-based jobseeker’s allowance, income support and pension credit received £326 from the department. The DWP recently confirmed benefits claimants would receive the second payment between November 8 and 23 and will be paid automatically into the bank that people receive their benefits.

And now it has been confirmed when those who get tax credits from HMRC will receive their money. To get all the latest money-saving news straight to your inbox twice a week sign up here.

The automatic payment will be rolled out those on tax credits between November 23 and 30. The payments are being made shortly after the DWP payments in order to avoid duplicate payments. You should expect the payment if you received, or later receive, either a payment of tax credits for the tax year 2022 to 2023 for any day in the period between August 26, 2022 and September 25, 2022 , or an annual award of at least £26 of tax credits for 2022/2023.

If you receive both child tax credit and working tax credit you will only receive a cost of living payment from HMRC for the child tax credit. If you get tax credits from HMRC and a low income benefit from the DWP, then you will only receive a payment from the DWP.

Similar to the first payment given in July, those who claim universal credit, income-related employment support allowance, income-based jobseeker’s allowance, income support and pension credit are eligible for the second payment coming this autumn.

There are a number of other payments available that you could also qualify for this winter. To find out about all the cost of living payments due between now and Christmas click here.
