Easter falls on Sunday, April 17 this year which means everyone in the UK can look forward to the upcoming bank holiday on Good Friday.
However, only people south of the border will be able to enjoy Easter Monday as a recognised holiday as it’s considered a public holiday in Scotland.
The extended weekend from April 15 to April 18 also means that normal financial transactions will be suspended and as a result, some benefit payments that fall on those dates may change.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has already updated the GOV.UK website confirming the revised payment dates for Working Tax Credits, Child Tax Credits, Child Benefits and Guardian’s Allowance.
Revised HMRC payment dates over Easter weekend
Working Tax Credits
- Payments due on Friday, April 15 or Monday, April 18 will be paid on Thursday, April 14
Child Tax Credits
- Payments due on Friday, April 15 or Monday, April 18 will be paid on Thursday, April 14
Child Benefit
- Payments due on Monday, April 18 will be paid on Thursday, April 14
Guardian’s Allowance
- Payments due on Monday, April 18 will be paid on Thursday, April 14
DWP payment dates over Easter weekend
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has not yet confirmed a change to payment dates for benefits or State Pension, however, going by previous bank holiday amendments, it is most-likely payments could be made earlier and follow the same payment pattern as HMRC.
This means anyone due to receive DWP benefit payments or State Pension, could be paid on Thursday, April 14 if their payment date falls between April 15th and 18th.
This could affect anyone due to receive a payment for:
- Attendance Allowance
- Carer’s Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance
- Employment Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Pension Credit
- Personal Independence Payment
- State Pension
- Universal Credit
We will update this article once the DWP bank holiday payment dates have been confirmed.
