DWP admits delays to £150 cost of living payment for disabilities

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has said it remains on track to deliver one-off £150 cost-of-living payments to the vast majority of eligible people with disabilities by the start of October.

Around six million people are due to receive a £150 disability cost-of-living payment. The DWP previously said people would start receiving payments from Tuesday this week - and that the vast majority of those eligible are expected to receive their one-off payment by the start of October.

The DWP said on Thursday that it still expects this to be the case, with more payments expected to be sent out next week than this week. It said an "operational issue" meant fewer payments were sent out this week.

Those who receive disability benefits may be eligible for the one-off payment of £150. This includes those on Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance, Scottish Disability Benefits (Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment), Armed Forces Independence Payment, Constant Attendance Allowance and War Pension Mobility Supplement.

Those who had confirmed payment of their disability benefit for May 25 are expected to be paid shortly after the payment window opens. For those awaiting confirmation of their disability benefits on May 25, or who are waiting to be assessed for eligibility to receive disability benefits, the process may take longer.

You must have received a payment (or later receive a payment) of one of these qualifying benefits for May 25 2022 to get the payment. Payments will be automatic, so people should watch out for texts and emails from fraudsters asking for their personal details.
