Dozens of Leeds postcodes are eligible for cold weather pay outs worth up to £50.
Cold Weather Payments come when the average temperature in your area is zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. You get £25 for each seven-day period.
After a very cold couple of weeks that is set to end in Leeds on Monday, many households are eligible for the payments. Eligible households are those receiving certain benefits or support.

The Department for Work and Pensions runs the scheme between November 1 and March 31. The payment should be sent to your bank account within 14 days of your postcode qualifying if you are eligible.

Eligibility
If you receive one of the following benefits, you could be eligible for cold weather payments:
- Pension Credit
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Universal Credit
- Support for Mortgage Interest
However, there are conditions beyond just receiving the benefit. Things that are more likely to make you eligible include having a child under five living with you, a disabled child, Child Tax Credit with a disability element, disability premium or a pensioner premium.
If you think you should have received one and it does not arrive, you should either sign into your Universal Credit journal and add a note, notify the Pension Service, or notify Jobcentre Plus.
