Barry Ferguson has reacted to Dwight Yorke's claim about splitting Rangers and Celtic if he landed the Aberdeen job by branding him on a 'different planet'
The former Manchester United striker has been one of the names linked with the vacant role at Pittodrie following the decision to sack Jim Goodwin. His axing came off the back of arguably the biggest shock defeat in Scottish Cup history to Darvel then a 6-0 hammering by Hibs in the next match. They had also lost 5-0 to Hearts in a horror run of results.
The Dons picked up a much-needed victory last time out against Motherwell as the search for Dave Cormack and his team for the next permanent manager goes on behind the scenes. Barry Robson has been appointed interim boss while the club whittle down candidates to take over at Pittodrie.

Yorke, who Rangers hero Ferguson played alongside at Blackburn, has thrown his hat into the ring and made a bold statement should he land the gig. The former Ibrox skipper has labelled the 51-year-old as an 'unbelievable' player in his time but reckons he is on a different planet and challenging the dominance is only going to happen if they land hundreds of millions of investment from a rich man.
Speaking on Go Radio, Fergie responded to Yorke's claim by saying: "No, I can't see it unless a rich man comes in and invests hundreds of millions of pounds, which I don't think will happen.
"It happened when Rangers were down the leagues and Aberdeen finished second. But I can’t see it happening again.
“I played with Yorkie at Blackburn. An unbelievable player and was doing well in management out in Australia, but I think he’s on a different planet when he says that!"
Yorke told OLBG, he said: "Mark Bosnich is a good friend, I promise I haven't paid him to say I can win the Europa Conference League with Aberdeen! We know that Celtic and Rangers have had a stranglehold over the league for years and no one has been able to break that hold.
"There is a good opportunity for me to break that hold in the right setting with the right backing. I can understand the high expectation because that is how I am as an individual, things aren't impossible.
"Before anything happens, I have to get the job first, this is just based on what Bosnich has said."
