Dwayne Johnson Sustains Injury On Film Set, Remains Upbeat

Dwayne Johnson clapping

Dwayne Johnson recently sustained an injury on the set of his upcoming film, 'The Smashing Machine,' but he is handling it with his characteristic humor. In a video shared on Instagram, Johnson displayed a swollen elbow he acquired while filming a scene for the movie. He jokingly remarked, 'Anytime your film is called ‘The Smashing Machine,’ well, you’re kind of going to get smashed up.'

Despite the injury, Johnson remained upbeat, stating, 'Look at that sucker right there. Looks like I have a cantaloupe at the bottom of my elbow. I got banged up pretty good today in our scenes.' He mentioned the possibility of soft tissue damage but planned to wait for the swelling to subside before undergoing an MRI.

Referencing advice from his late father, Rocky Johnson, a former wrestler and bodybuilder, Dwayne shared, 'I remember my old man used to say, God rest his soul…‘A day without pain is like a day without sunshine, boy.’

Seeking guidance on his injury, Johnson listed a history of past injuries, including torn muscles and multiple surgeries. He humorously mentioned trying various remedies, including his own tequila brand, Teremana, which he jokingly referred to as his favorite anti-inflammatory.

In 'The Smashing Machine,' Johnson portrays MMA and UFC legend Mark Kerr. A recent glimpse of Johnson in character as Kerr, complete with dark hair and facial prosthetics, was unveiled on social media last month.
