Dwayne Johnson wants to be James Bond and recalls family connection to the franchise

Dwayne Johnson appears to have thrown his name into the hat to become the next James Bond.

The franchise is looking for its next big-name star after the end of the Daniel Craig era and the huge American believes he could be the man for the job.

While some believe the former WWE star, 50, could be better suited to playing a villain, it's not something Dwayne himself is keen on.

"F*** the villain," he joked, when speaking to LadBible.

His response came after he had revealed to the publication that he grandfather, Peter Maivia, had already starred as a bad guy opposite Sean Connery in the 1967 production of You Only Live Twice.

"He had this amazing fight scene with Sean Connery," the man also known as The Rock revealed, before adding her would be more than happy to play the suave agent.

"I see myself as James Bond," he said. "F*** the villain! An American Bond? It can happen, right? It’s like Henry Cavill playing Superman."

It would be a change from the norm for the star, but one fans would seemingly welcome. Dwayne is currently the main star in the latest DC instalment, Black Adam.

At the premiere of the show in London he planted a smacker - not the smackdown - on Daniel Craig's actress daughter.

The Hollywood heavyweight kissed the Bond actor's daughter Ella Loudon, 30, on the cheek ahead of posing for photos of the yellow carpet. The duo then embraced before turning to face onlooking photographers.

Dwayne looked extremely dapper in an eye-catching purple suit - to which he opted against wearing a shirt underneath. Ella, meanwhile, cut a glamorous figure in a black ruched dress with cut out detailing at the waist.

Black Adam, which has already proved a big success in the cinemas, follows the story of anti-hero Teth Adam, a 5,000-year-old slave-turned-warrior with godlike abilities.

It's looked upon as being both a spin-off and prequel to Shazam!, the 2019 movie featuring Zachary Levi.

Black Adam features a star-studded cast, which sees Dwayne star alongside Pierce Brosnan, Quintessa Swindell, Noah Centineo and Aldis Hodge.
