DVSA Strike: The list of dates staff at driving test centres in Wales are set to take strike action

Driving examiners working at hundreds of driving test centres across the UK are set to go on strike in the coming weeks - and the dates of their planned strikes have now been shared. The designated strike-period has been confirmed as running from December 13, 2022 to January 16, 2023, with staff at different centres set to strike on different days.

Most driving examiners working at centres in England and Scotland are set to strike in December, 2022, while staff at 16 driving test centres in Wales are set to follow with strike action in early-January 2023.

The industrial action comes after members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the Rural Payments Agency voted in-favour of strike action over pay, pensions, job security and cuts to redundancy terms.

Recap: Driving examiners will go on strike as civil servants announce walk-outs

The PCS Union says 92% of its members voted in favour of strike action, on an almost 70% voter turnout - well-above the required legal threshold of 50%. The Union says the initial phase of strike action "will be targeted at areas that will have a significant impact on employers' operations and the government, and has offered "strike pay" to any members that strike.

In Wales, driving examiners at DVSA Abergavenny, Bangor, Bridgend, Cardiff - Llanishen, Cardiff - Llantrisant, Caernarfon, Carmarthen, Llanelli, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouth, Newport (Gwent), Pembroke Dock, Rhyl, Swansea - Burrows Road, Wrexham - Birchall House and Wrexham - Llay, are all set to go on strike from January 4 to 10, 2023 , inclusive.

The PCS Union say is finalising details of members meetings, rallies and picket lines. It's unknown how many PCS Union members work at the DVSA sites in Wales and therefore it's not yet known how many driving tests and other appointments are likely to be affected by the strike action.
