Dutch duo discuss potential of signing Sam Lammers from Rangers

The latest on the future of Rangers player Sam Lammers remains uncertain at this time.

What we do know is that the Ibrox club are keen to offload the Dutchman, and that there is plenty of interest in the Eredivisie in the striker.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at FC Utrecht in his homeland.

He enjoyed a productive spell, scoring in seven consecutive games, breaking a league record.

The club are keen to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis, however, it would appear they will face competition for league rivals FC Twente.

Their technical director, Arnold Bruggink, said: “We also have a very good striker at FC Twente. So, it is not that we need someone there immediately.

“By the end of the European Championship we will things will get going as usual. We are not panicking.”

Jordy Zuidam, of Utrecht, has also spoken about the player.

He commented: "He is a very important link in our team, so we want to go far for him. It is above our ceiling, but we are now looking for a solution.”

Meanwhile, Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants to reunite with Rangers captain James Tavernier in Turkey.

The Dutchman, 49, last week became the new manager of Turkish giants Besiktas.

The experienced coach, who was sacked by the Ibrox club in November 2022, joined on a two-year deal, with the option to extend his contract until the summer of 2027.

Besiktas finished sixth in the Super Lig last season, and they last won the top-flight title in Turkey in 2021.

Now, the former Scottish Premiership boss is looking to sink his teeth into his latest management role, and that starts with recruiting new players ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

And it seems reports in Turkey are linking Van Bornckhorst with a move for his trusted skipper at Ibrox, Tavernier.
