Dustin Poirier has used one of Nate Diaz 's most famous call-outs to push for a fight with the UFC fan favourite.
Poirier and Diaz verbally agreed to a fight last month just days after 'The Diamond' missed out on the UFC lightweight title against Charles Oliveira.
The promotion gave the fight the go-ahead, with UFC 270 in California or UFC 271 in Texas being potential venues for the welterweight clash.
But talks of the fight went dark and reports later suggested it had been shelved by the UFC for the time being.
Poirier has now reignited the fight by indirectly calling out Diaz on social media, writing: "I'm gonna fight your ass".
Diaz directed those words to UFC star Conor McGregor in 2015 after outpointing Michael Johnson, just seven days after McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo to win the featherweight belt.
"F*** that, Conor McGregor, you're taking everything I worked for mother******. I'm a fight your f****** ass," Diaz said after the win.
"You know what's the real fight and the real money fight, it's me. Not these clowns that you've already punked at the press conference."
And Diaz responded to Poirier's call-out by telling the UFC: "Stop playing wit me consider this my signature to fight this f***** I been trying to fight for a minute quit slowing down the real fight game it’s time".
Diaz also mocked Poirier in a tweet earlier this month by suggesting the UFC informed him their fight was off because his opponent "sucks".
"I just talked to the UFC, I said 'what's going on with the Dustin Poirier fight, I wanna fight as soon as possible," he wrote.
"But they said 'Dustin sucks' and they don’t want it sorry. Dustin you suck hope to fight soon though let’s do this.
The pair were originally meet in a 155-pound fight at UFC 230 in November 2018, but Poirier withdrew due to injury and the matchup was never rebooked.

Poirier teased a move up to 170-pounds by posting a recent picture that showed a drastic change in his physique over the holiday season.
The former interim lightweight titleholder admitted before facing Oliveira at UFC 269 there was a "90 percent" chance he fights at welterweight before retiring from the UFC.
“I’m not sure (who I could face at welterweight), we’ll see. I mean, the whole top-10 rankings system in the UFC at lightweight is tough guys," he told RT Sport MMA.
"I don’t know when that move to welterweight will be. But I’m pretty sure, I would say I’m 90 percent sure that before everything is said and done, that I will fight at 170 pounds in the UFC.”
