Dustin Johnson insists LIV Golf will still have ‘full schedule’ despite golf’s merger

Dustin Johnson is adamant LIV Golf is here to stay and the series will run as normal in 2024.

Doubts have been cast over the future of the rebel series following golf’s shock merger between the PGA and DP World Tours and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which bankrolls LIV.

Following talks with PIF boss Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Johnson said he was told “the circuit will remain in business”.

The American golfer, speaking on the eve of the US Open which gets under way in Los Angeles on Thursday, said: “Everything I’ve heard, they’re still working on a full schedule for next year.

“The rest of this year and 2024 is going to be the same as far as I know. After that, you know as much as I do.”

That was echoed by Bryson DeChambeau, who said LIV bosses were working on new innovations for the 2024 season.

“I don’t think LIV will go away,” he said, after having held his own brief talks with Al-Rumayyan about the future.

“He said a couple of other cool ideas that I think could be interesting for the game of golf. But we’ll see if it all happens because you’ve still got to dial in all of the details. There’s a lot of unknowns.”
