Dusan Vlahovic 'makes final Arsenal decision' as Gunners handed Arthur Melo transfer boost

With Tottenham and Manchester United appearing to be picking up their respective form and Arsenal appearing to be heading in the opposite direction, the time could be right for Mikel Arteta to make some investment in his squad.

The centre of midfield is an ongoing problem at the Emirates and talks appear to be progressing nicely for a deal to add Arthur Melo into the mix.

A striker is also a long-term goal for Arteta with a reliance on Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe for goals at the moment with issues surrounding the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Here are our picks of today's Arsenal rumours with just eight days left of the January 2022 transfer window.

What

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic, with the forward said to have made a decision on his future amid concrete interest from the Gunners.

La Republicca report that the Serbian target man is willing to wait until the summer for a move in order to guarantee Champions League football next season.

The Gunners are currently in a fierce battle to finish in the Premier League's top four and with Manchester City reportedly interested Vlahovic is in no rush to make a decision.

This would not be a disaster for Arteta with Alexandre Lacazette under contract until the summer at least and Eddie Nketiah in reserve, but a striker remains a priority with doubts continuing to surround the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

What

On a positive note for Arsenal fans, talks to sign Juventus midfielder on a loan deal are said to be progressing with a loan deal edging closer according to Tuttosport.

The 25-year-old is said to be willing to take a pay cut to join Arsenal, who are in need of midfield reinforcements due to patchy form and injuries.

Arsenal were originally keen on a six-month loan deal for the Brazilian but now it's looking more likely that an 18-month loan deal will be agreed giving the Gunners a longer-term option for the former Barcelona man.
