A DUP MLA has faced a wave of criticism on Twitter over his response to a PSNI LGBT group's tweet about a new inclusive uniform policy.
Jonathan Buckley was reacting to a post from the PSNI's LGBT+ Network during Foyle Pride at the weekend.
Posting an image of two PSNI officers, the group tweeted: "We're proud to say that this week our Police Service changed its policy on uniform items.

"This means all officers have agency over their gender presentation. Men, women and those with non-binary identities may wear either hat. A small but meaningful step forward for equality."
In response, Mr Buckley dismissed the "politically correct brigade" and asked whether police should be "getting on with the real issues".
The Upper Bann MLA tweeted: "I'm sure you all feel great. Everyone can stand around and clap each other on the back in the ‘politically correct brigade’.
"How about getting on with the real issues affecting people such as tackling drugs, theft and crime?"
Although Mr Buckley restricted those who could reply under the tweet, many Twitter users instead shared his post as they expressed their criticism.
Many compared his tweet to the DUP continuing to block the restoration of a fully functioning devolved government at Stormont in protest over Brexit's Northern Ireland Protocol.
Alliance Upper Bann MLA Eóin Tennyson said the tweet "says it all about DUP priorities".
He added: "Lecturing others about how to do their jobs while refusing to do their own. Brass-necked and tin-eared."
SDLP West Tyrone MLA Daniel McCrossan tweeted: "The DUP would know plenty about 'standing around, clapping each other on the back' and NOT doing their jobs!
"Get back to work, form an Executive and resolve the issues affecting people's lives instead of pointing at everyone else."
The UUP's Stephen McCarthy, who was an Assembly election candidate for the party in South Belfast, tweeted: "Nothing like being distracted from your job when there's real issues to deal with, eh Johnny?
"Sweet baby Jesus you'd think you'd see the hypocrisy and not hit the tweet button."
However, some expressed support for Mr Buckley's post, including the Anglican Deacon and TV presenter Calvin Robinson who responded: “Hear hear."
Asked about the Twitter exchange, PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Chris Todd said in a statement: "It is important that officers and staff in the Police Service of Northern Ireland represent all communities and that we promote fairness and inclusivity in the workplace.
"Currently, our officers have the opportunity to speak to management and discuss their uniform so that they may be issued with corporate items appropriate to their role, that best fit their personal circumstances."
