Starbucks (SBUX) is not only a leader in the retail coffee industry, but since it is considered a fast-food chain as well, which means competition for them is everywhere.
If Starbucks tries something new, you better believe that others will copy it as best they can. It isn’t a bad thing to copy the leader, especially if copying the leader creates a winning product.

A clear winner every year is Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte aka 'PSL,' and for some unrelenting reason, it is only available during the fall. Pumpkin Spice Latte would be good all year around, as PSL fans everywhere anxiously await its return at Starbucks each season, among other places.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte isn’t unique to Starbucks, every coffee r now has a Pumpkin coffee drink of some sorts. Starbucks takes the lead, of course, being ranked number one according to a Mashed survey. Second place pumpkin spice drink is awarded to Panera Bread. Third place for a Pumpkin Spice Latte goes to Dunkin’ (DNKN) formerly Dunkin’ Donuts. But don’t worry they still have donuts; they just dropped it from the name for a catchier namesake.
A Pumpkin Spice Competitor
Since the world doesn’t want everyone to enjoy a PSL all year around, it forces consumers to try new things, and last year it was the Salted Caramel Cold Brew at Dunkin’. Does this drink sound familiar? If it does, maybe it’s because Starbucks offered a Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew in 2021. When there’s a hit, expect it to be copied.
Dunkin’ first introduced its own version of the Salted Caramel Cold Brew in spring of 2022, and it was a big enough hit, that it is making its return to the menu. Dunkin's Salted Caramel Cold Brew and its Caramel Chocoholic Donut are both back for a limited time only at participating locations.
The Dunkin’ Salted Caramel Cold Brew is a smooth salty, yet sweet coffee that offers a great way to get your caffeine in for the day, and also feel like you’re having dessert at the same time. Who doesn’t want dessert first thing in the morning?! If you feel like eating breakfast as well, Dunkin’ always has you covered. Dunkin’ is also bringing back its Caramel Chocoholic Donut. The donut is a chocolate glazed covered with caramel icing topped with chocolate curls, according to Chew Boom.
Dunkin’ is also adding two flavors to its Dunkin’ breakfast wraps. The Chorizo and Egg Wrap has red pepper, scrambled eggs, chorizo, veggies, black beans and a mild spicy cheese sauce. It is also bringing the Chicken and Roasted Pepper Wrap, which has chicken, cheese and roasted peppers. Dunkin’s reward members can get the new Dunkin’ wraps for only $2 with drink purchase.
Have Your Cake and Eat It Too
Dunkin’ Rewards offer a deal this summer, as Reward members with Dunkin’ can get a chance to try the limited-time offer of the Salted Caramel Cold Brew for free with any purchase from July 1 through the end of the month using the Dunkin’ app rewards program.
To top it off, Dunkin’ is also offering discounted drinks through the month for a single use through the app. Reward members can get a $3 medium hot or iced signature latte, or a $2 medium iced coffee, according to USA Today.
