As festive events go, the Christmas lights trail at Dunham Massey is always a popular one.
While it might seem ludicrous to be thinking about the festive season in June, it's when tickets for the sought-after event go on sale - and when the best dates get snapped up.
The after-dark illuminated festive trail is aimed at all ages and is returning to the historic National Trust venue between November 18 and January 2.
This family friendly, one-mile trail promises to 'once again be packed with captivating illuminations'. Curated installations this year include larger than life giant lilies, a multi-coloured laser garden and the dandelion-inspired ‘Light a Wish’, a huge glowing structure that reaches high into the night sky.
More than a million twinkling lights will feature in the trail, bringing the Altrincham park to life with 'seasonal surprises and shimmering reflections that cast light on beautiful silhouettes of majestic trees, all choreographed to a soundtrack of festive favourites'.
Matthew Findlay, head of UK Trails for Sony Music/Raymond Gubbay Ltd, said: “We were thrilled with the fantastic response from visitors who enjoyed the trail last Christmas and our planning and preparation for Dunham Massey is already well underway for this year. Look out for some new surprises."
As always, there'll be treats on offer from independent street food vendors and visitors will have the chance to toast a marshmallow over an open fire as part of the experience.
Tickets are available for time slots between 4.30pm and 8.30pm, except for December 24, 26 and 31, when last admission is 7pm.
The event runs from November 18 to January 2, excluding November 21, 22, 28, 29 and December 5, 12 and 25.
Tickets, costing from £14.50 for children, £22.50 for adults, or £72 for a family of four, can be booked on the website here. Parking costs £8 or is free for National Trust members.
