Dundee United 4 Kilmarnock 0 as Derek McInnes' men hit rock bottom of the Scottish Premiership

Kilmarnock left the city of discovery looking for serious answers after a humbling defeat to Dundee United which planted them to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership.

The Ayrshire side headed home with their tails between their legs as the Arabs fired in four goals without reply, but it could have been much worse had United not taken their foot off the gas after flying into a 3-0 lead after just 25 minutes.

Kieran Freeman, Jamie McGrath, Glenn Middleton and Dylan Levitt helped themselves to goals in the rout.

Middleton had a fantastic chance after five minutes to fire the hosts ahead, but Zach Hemming got down well to save the close-range stab at goal.

They did take the lead in the 12th minute when Freeman’s effort trickled past the on-loan Middlesbrough stopper.

United’s lead was doubled after 25 minutes as McGrath slid the ball home after Hemming saved Middleton’s initial shot.

The misery was piled on on the half-hour mark as Middleton got his goal as he smashed a free kick into Hemming’s right-hand corner.

A fuming Derek McInnes made a triple substitution when the third goal went in, with Ryan Alebiosu, Jordan Jones and Blair Alston making way for Alan Power, Rory McKenzie and Innes Cameron.

Killie had a half-chance just after half-time as Cameron aimed to fire a header towards goal, but it went over the crossbar.

Levitt sealed the perfect day after his World Cup call up with a fine finish from the edge of the box after 73 minutes.

The game petered out as a lacklustre Killie performance ended in an embarrassing defeat.
