Dundee have agreed a deal to sign Albion Rovers' star man Charlie Reilly for next season.
The 21-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the campaign and it appears Championship leaders Dundee, who could be heading to the Premiership next season, have won the race to prise him away from a side currently bottom of League Two.
The Courier report that the Dark Blues were one of a number of clubs who considered a move for him in the January window, but they have now swooped to sign the former Hamilton Accies and Partick Thistle man.
Playmaker Reilly has been a vital asset for the Cliftonhill side this term and without him their League Two fate would likely already be sealed, given he has netted 23 goals and produced numerous assists, including three in Saturday's 3-1 over Stenhousemuir.
He has also won the league's player of the month award in January and February.
In January, then Rovers boss Brian Reid was asked about Reilly's future and admitted plenty of clubs had shown an interest.
Reid, who has since been replaced by Sandy Clark at the helm, said at the time: “There’s plenty of clubs enquiring about him right now but we are not concerned.
“He’s contracted to us until the end of the season so we are under no pressure to sell him.
“We want to hold onto him because he is a big player for us and we are on a good run, but I’m not naive enough to think we can stop boys going.
“It would take something exceptional for Charlie to leave.
“At any club, you should be wanting to play higher and we won’t stand in anyone’s way so we’ve got to enjoy him for the moment.
“We’ve got a really young, energetic team and that is going to attract other clubs. That’s the nature of the beast at part-time clubs, bigger clubs come and take your best players away.”
