Dundee's Luke McCowan could 'do a job' for both Celtic and Rangers

Barry Ferguson believes that Dundee's Luke McCowan could truly thrive at Rangers under Philippe Clement's management.

The 26-year-old is currently a target for Hibernian, who have made three bids to acquire him this summer.

Meanwhile, Celtic are also monitoring his situation closely.

Dundee value the midfielder at £1million, and recently rejected a £700k bid from Hibs for his services.

McCowan was a standout last season as he helped the Tayside club clinch a top six spot in the Scottish Premiership. He's continued that impressive form into the new campaign by scoring twice and providing an assist from Dundee's opening two league matches.

That's not gone unnoticed, and Ferguson reckons McCowan is the sort of player his former club should be targeting.

“I really like him," the ex-Rangers captain told the Go Radio Football Show.

"Every time I watch Dundee, he’s stood out like a sore thumb.

“He was Dundee’s best player, at 26 he’s not a young kid, he’s got good experience and listen, he’s done it the hard way. From Ayr United, he got his move to Dundee and for me was exceptional last season.

“Could he do a job for Celtic or Rangers? 100 per cent, that’s how highly I rate him.”
