Dundee reveal 5 candidate next manager shortlist as interviews set to ramp up

Dundee are working from a five candidate shortlist in their search for a new manager.

The Dens Park side are preparing for life in the Championship next season and parted company with Mark McGhee earlier this week after he failed to stave off relegation.

McGhee won just one of 13 matches in charge having replaced James McPake on a short-term deal in February.

Record Sport exclusively revealed technical director Gordon Strachan was set to take a hands-on role in planning Dundee 's attempted return to the Premiership.

And now an update from Dens has told fans that the first round of interviews will be "completed early next week".

A club statement said: "The club can issue the following update on the managerial position.

"Since the end of the season, we have entered into a thorough process in our search for the right person for the post.

"A shortlist has been established consisting of 5 candidates.

"The interview process is underway and the first round of interviews will be completed early next week.

"We would like to thank supporters for their patience on this matter and will update you with further information as and when it is available."

Bookies this week installed Kelty Hearts manager Kevin Thomson as favourite while Strachan's son Gavin, a coach at Celtic, was also linked.
