Dundee Rep’s latest show has been getting rave reviews from audiences as it nears the end of its run.
‘The Bookies’ - a dark comedy set in a betting shop - finishes its three-week stint this Saturday.
The good news is, there’s still tickets left to see the show by the city’s award winning company.
Described as a ‘riveting new thriller’ - the play has audiences in stitches ‘wondering who will win and who will lose?’
And local crowds couldn’t get enough.
Writing on the Dundee Rep’s Facebook page they sang the show’s praises.
Kenny Malone wrote: “Went to see this on Tuesday and loved it.”
Gillian Mccabe added: “Was a fantastic play, I loved every minute of it. Well written, acted and the set was brilliant too.”
While Jacob Dudgeon said: “Brilliant show - jam packed with fab comic timing, sad moments and a great cast!”
Jim Gavine had his own thoughts. He said: “We saw it last night & really enjoyed it, Trainspotting in a betting shop.”
Frances Giblin was delighted she went, adding: “Amazing brilliant funny unexpected finale ! Well done !!!”
Based in an Edinburgh bookies, the play revolves around regular punters and workers - Michelle, Pat, John and Harry.
One day things take an unexpected turn and Pat wonders if it’s odds-on he'll lose his job.
Bad things happen to bad people they say; and as the tensions rise and accusations fly, the mystery deepens.
Meanwhile, gambling addict Harry is convinced there is a ghost in the machine. Dark forces are at work here but will the truth finally be revealed?
