Dundee is one of the worst cities in the UK for elderly folk to find love, a survey has revealed. The city scored just 2.8 out of 10 in data produced by online care experts.
Relationship specialists at Lottie, a digital marketplace that connects care seekers to the UK’s care homes - carried out the investigation.
They created a male and female profile on the online platform Match.com and set the age range of results to 60-99 years.
They then searched for the total number of users over 60 looking for love in each city.
These results were then used alongside population statistics to calculate a final ‘senior dating’ score out of 10.
Dundee’s score ranked the city joint 51st in the UK.
The three best cities in the UK for elderly romance were Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow
With 30% of the bottom ten cities being in Northern Ireland.
Chris Pleines, dating expert from Datingscout.com, gave some tips for the over 60s itching to date again.
He said: “Don’t be afraid to get back to the dating pool. Dating when you’re over 60 may seem scary – but to give you comfort, you’re definitely not alone.
“Many people miss the chance at newfound love simply because they’re insecure or afraid. Don’t let this be something that blocks your potential to gain a new source of happiness.
“Also consider getting back with your exes. Whilst not recommended for previously negative relationships, sometimes, the right person comes at the wrong time and circumstance, and romance could be sweeter the second time around.
“Plus, getting back with someone you've already shared a flame with is easier than starting over again.”
And he added: “Never ever get discouraged. Know that love is still love no matter the age. You'll still get butterflies when they call and still feel nervous every time you're trying to decide what to wear on your dates, especially the first ones.
“So don't ever doubt yourself, go with the flow and have fun!”
