Dundee one of the safest places to drive in the UK, new research shows

Dundee is one of the safest places to drive in the UK, a new report has revealed. The city has made it into the top 10 places that have recorded the least number of accidents in the past year.

The data was part of a survey looking at driving schools and instructors across the UK.

Dundee ended up 7th on the list with just 147 road accidents recorded - 39 of these were A-road accidents with 108 minor bumps.

The top two cities in the UK were also Scottish - Aberdeen with 70 and Falkirk with 82.

As well as accident figures, the experts at the Bill Plant Driving School also looked at learner driving patterns.

They concluded that Dundee has 140 driving instructors in total - which works out at 94 instructors per 100,000 people.

Dundee has 35,624 provisional license holders in total and the driving test pass rate is 56.7%.
