Duncan James sports suspenders and corset as Frank 'N' Furter in Rocky Horror Show

Duncan James looked unrecognisable as he appeared in The Rocky Horror Show for the first time on Monday night.

Playing alien transvestite Dr Frank 'N' Furter, the former Blue singer was dressed for the occasion in a pair of netted stockings, suspenders and a red velvet corset.

His look was pulled together with a pair of red high heels, a pearl necklace, some long feathered gloves and an elaborate head-piece.

Meanwhile, the singer also sported a curly brown wig and a heavy face of make-up, which included deep blue eyeshadow and a sexy red lip.

Hollyoaks star Duncan put on an impressive show as he starred in the production, kicking off the tour in Oxford's New Theatre.

The X Factor singer Alexandra Burke came to watch him in the performance, and was snapped beaming from the sidelines.

Speaking about his role in the smash hit show, he said: "Frank is such an iconic role, it's an honour to be able to play him and a role that I have always wanted to do."

He added: "I'm so excited to be touring with such a fun and vibrant show, and to be working with this fantastic cast."

Duncan isn't the only famous face linked to the production, as Strictly Come Dancing star Joanne Clifton is also set to star as Janet and a1's Ben Adams has been cast as Brad.

Kevin Clifton's sister Joanne said of her role: "I've always loved Rocky Horror. I learnt the Time Warp in my dance classes in Grimsby when I was 4 years old.

"Thirty years later and I’ll be jumping to the left on the actual Rocky Horror stage, I can't quite believe it."

The production, based on the 70s film, tells the story of protagonist Brad and his fiancee Janet, who bump into Dr Frank 'N' Furter when their car breaks down.

The show follows them as they discover the secrets of his mysterious mansion, and lose their innocents as they meet a whole host of zany characters on the way.
