Duncan Ferguson has been named Everton's caretaker manager as the search for Rafa Benitez's replacement goes on.
Big Dunc will be in charge for Saturday's home game with Aston Villa as the Blues look for a sixth new permanent boss since 2016.
Ferguson will be supported in the role by Leighton Baines, John Ebbrell and Alan Kelly.
Everton had made early moves to see if they could lure Roberto Martinez back to the club but the Belgium FA have put the brakes on any deal, which has now stalled.
Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard are under consideration and likely to be interviewed.

This is the second time Ferguson has been in temporary charge of the club, having enjoyed a similar stint following the departure of Marco Silva in December 2019 - which included a win against Chelsea and hard-fought draws against Manchester United and Arsenal.
Everton have indicated Ferguson is now in charge for the "upcoming games".
It remains to be seen how extensive his spell will be, but next up is the clash against Steven Gerrard's Villa before Brentford in the FA Cup and a trip to Newcastle in the league.
A club statement added: "An announcement on a permanent managerial appointment will be made in due course."
