Duncan Ferguson believes that Forest Green Rovers can still avoid relegation after the little club on the hill stunned high-flying Sheffield Wednesday at the New Lawn.
Everton legend Ferguson had failed to win any of his previous nine matches in charge after being appointed Forest Green manager at the end of January. The League One basement club had not won a single match since December 10 last year, but put in a committed performance to down the promotion-chasing Owls 1-0 on Sunday, thanks to Jordon D'Andre Garrick's first half strike.
The Cotswolds club are still four points adrift of nearest team Cambridge United and 11 behind Oxford United, who sit just outside the relegation zone, but a delighted Ferguson was in typical fighting mood after his first win as a full-time manager and has already set his sights on a remarkable survival mission.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Ferguson said: "It shows that we are capable of getting results. We deserve more than we have got, today you could see how good the shape was how hard the players have been working. Anything is possible, there are games to play and win and if we can play like that in every game then why can't we win them all?
"I think everybody deserved that today, the boys put in an incredible shift in and it was a proud moment for myself and the fans to topple one of the big boys in the league.
"You've got to be perfect for most of the game and I thought we were perfect for most of the game. They never created any chances, they played long balls in the box and we defended well. We created the more chances, the better chances, we should have been two or three up but the boys were absolutely fantastic today."
Despite their League One status looking perilous at best, Ferguson signed a five-and-half year deal with Forest Green chairman Dale Vince and last week, reaffirmed his commitment to the club, telling Sky Sports: "I love Everton, but I'm at Forest Green. The owner knows I'm a man of my word, and I've told him I won't be going anywhere unless he tells me. And that's it.
"It doesn't matter if Everton come in for me tomorrow, or Real Madrid come in for me next week. I will not be leaving this club. That's an absolute fact. He showed faith in bringing me to the club and he gave me a big contract. He showed that loyalty to me, and I'll show that loyalty back to him."
