Volunteers at St John’s Episcopal Church on Newall Terrace, Dumfries, are opening up their hall on Wednesdays as a warm space.
The first was held on Wednesday and it will run until mid-March to help with the cost of living crisis.
The hall will be open from 11.30am to 3pm for anyone needing an opportunity to have a warm place to go for a friendly chat and tea, coffee, hot soup and a roll, rather than be alone in a cold home.
They don’t need to be a member of the congregation to attend.
Church members have volunteered to steward it and are helping out with donations of suitable foodstuffs for the gatherings.
