Dumfries' Kilnford Farm Shop scores success at Scottish Craft Butcher Awards

A Dumfries business has won five Scottish Craft Butcher Awards.

Kilnford Farm Retail Ltd, based at The Glen, scooped prizes in the naked steak and gourmet pastry products sections.

The judges awarded the company gold for their 30 day matured sirloin steak and silver for 36 day matured sirloin steak.

They also awarded Kilnford Farm Shop gold for their haggis muffins with peppercorn sauce, and silver for both ground beef Wellington with peppercorn sauce and open chicken wellington with garlic sauce in the gourmet pastry products.

Donnie Cockburn, from Kilnford, was “delighted” to be presented with the awards from Scottish Craft Butchers.

Tom Courts, president of the SCB, added: “We run these evaluations not just to award excellence but to underline the diverse product range that Scottish Craft Butchers offer.

“Local butchers are the specialist in our field and with customers becoming more adventurous with their tastes they are always seeking out the assurance of provenance that shopping at a specialist provides.”

This year’s awards attracted 60 entries in the steak category and 99 entries in the gourmet pastry section.
