Bouncers have been brought in to McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Dumfries.
The outlet has been plagued by gangs of youths congregating at the bench area outside the store and causing trouble at night.
Now the takeaway giant has beefed up security with door staff working in the evenings to discourage the groups from hanging about the venue and to help rid the area of antisocial behaviour.
The bouncers have been introduced as a temporary measure and the company will monitor the situation while working closely with police and Dumfries and Galloway Council to tackle the issue.
Although McDonald’s declined to comment, they did say their priority is the safety and security of staff and customers.
McDonald’s have installed stewards at city centre restaurants throughout the country to help tackle rowdy behaviour and disperse thugs clashing at weekends outside their premises following boozy nights out.
