Young eco warriors staged a demonstration in Dumbarton urging residents to take action against plastic pollution.
More than 150 St Patrick’s Primary School pupils marched from the Crosslet Road school to Glasgow Road where they chanted and made speeches packed full of statistics they had researched.
Over several weeks, primaries five to seven have been focussing on the effects of plastic pollution, which included community litter picks.
They were left shocked at the amount of microplastics washed up on the area’s shores and decided to organise the protest, which was also attended by Dumbarton MSP Jackie Baillie.
Teacher Peter Docherty said: “It was fantastic to see how motivated the children were, by doing work of this nature, they were truly empowered and determined to have their voices heard. Myself and the rest of the teachers in the school were immensely proud of their efforts.”
