Dumbarton's Ally Love hopes Albion Rovers winner gives boss a selection headache

Ally Love hopes his winner against Albion Rovers will give boss Stevie Farrell a selection headache this weekend.

The forward came off the bench to secure a priceless three points at Cliftonhill that means Sons go into Saturday’s crunch clash with Stirling Albion four points clear of the Binos.

Ally said: “This weekend is massive. We’ve done our part, but we’ll focus on ourselves.

“We’ve got ourselves into this position with the run that we’re on.

“Stirling Albion will come to win the game and with their own gameplan. We’ll just continued to go about our business.

“Hopefully I’ve played myself into contention for a start.

“The gaffer will pick the 11 he thinks will get a result.

“We have a really cracking squad of boys, anyone could start. That competition is healthy if we’re wanting to be successful this season.”

The Sons triumphed 2-0 the last time the sides met in G82. (Lennox Herald)

He continued: “It’s always hard when you come to Cliftonhill. To give Albion Rovers credit, I don’t think they should be bottom of the league. They are a very hard team to play against.

"I thought they played the pitch well and pinned us in at times, but the boys dug deep to get the result.

"At half-time the gaffer told us what we needed to do to get three points, and it worked.

"I’ve scored a few goals here in my time. But you’re always itching to get on, especially at 0-0 or 1-1. You try and get an idea of where you can make a difference."

And Ally has called on the Sons' support to play their part this weekend.

The former Clyde man added: "When I came on we had a corner right away which I took, and the fans were terrific. Since I came to the club they’ve been absolutely brilliant and travel in their numbers.

"I feel that connection between them and the team. That’s going to need to stay there if we’re going to achieve our aims this year."
