Dulce Spent Her Final Years Estranged from Her Daughter: She Blamed Giovanni Medina

En español

Scandalous and dramatic stories are commonplace in the entertainment world. Sadly, renowned Mexican singer Dulce, who passed away on Christmas Day, experienced one such ordeal involving her daughter, Romina Marconi.

In her final years, Dulce, her daughter, and later her grandson, lived far from Mexico City due to conflicts with businessman Giovanni Medina. That disturbing case that also featured a legal battle included death threats and other alarming incidents.

Romina's relationship with Medina, a controversial figure, took a dark turn—something neither Dulce nor her daughter foresaw.

Marconi and Medina's romance ended in 2012. After the breakup, the 'Tu Muñeca' singer decided Romina should leave Mexico. But what led Dulce to make such a drastic decision?

The move, considered extreme by some, aimed to protect Romina from the turmoil she endured during her relationship with Medina. Dulce revealed that her daughter was trapped in a toxic and troubled relationship.

The singer stated that while the abuse never turned physical, Medina threatened Romina's life, leading to legal battles that resulted in her relocation abroad.

"There was a restraining order at the time, but I ultimately decided my daughter should move to Europe. Now, she refuses to return to Mexico, not even for money," Dulce once said.

The decision to leave Mexico shielded Romina from potential retaliation but also meant mother and daughter remained geographically apart until Dulce's death. Despite the separation, Dulce believed it was the best choice for her daughter, who welcomed her first child in 2019.

Dulce often expressed sadness over the distance but prioritized Romina's safety. "I never wanted her to return here. She's terrified of him and feels safer far away. I'm more at peace knowing that," Dulce admitted.

Over the years, Dulce preferred visiting Romina in Europe rather than risking her return to Mexico. However, Romina eventually moved back.

In one of her final interviews on the 'Montse & Joe' podcast with Montserrat Oliver and Yolanda Andrade, Dulce revealed that Romina and her son were living in Mérida, Yucatán. She cherished spending time with her grandson, calling him "my little obsession."

Although Romina and Dulce overcame the trauma of her past relationship, Dulce never hesitated to criticize Medina publicly. After he separated actress Ninel Conde from their son, Dulce condemned his actions and accused him of seeking fame.

While Dulce was able to reunite with her daughter in her final months, their years of separation—caused by circumstances beyond their control—were difficult for both.

Dulce died at the age of 69 on Wednesday, December 25, following complications related to her respiratory system.
