Ducklings rescued from M6 after wandering onto M6

A flock of ducklings made their way onto the busy M6 alone on Easter Sunday.

The group of 16 baby ducks were saved by traffic officers after being spotted on the motorway. They have now been taken to a wildlife sanctuary.

An exact location was not clear, but the traffic officers have said the ducks were found "near Wigan".

In a post, National Highways North West said: "A happy story this morning. Our Traffic Officers have rescued 16 ducklings who were waddling around the M6 near Wigan. They have been safely taken to a wildlife sanctuary where they can 'eggsplain' how they ended up on the M6. Have a lovely Sunday all."
