Love Island’s Casa Amor has returned - with 12 new girls and boys hoping to turn heads, including a lad from Dublin.
A glimpse of what the 2023 Casa Amor villa looks like was revealed in Friday evening’s episode in a juicy teaser clip. This year's Casa Amor line-up ranges from a sexy female baker to a steel erector.
Martin Akinola, aged 27 from Dublin, works as a Senior Software Engineer. He’s friends with 2022 contestant Dami Hope, who issued him with some advice.
Revealing what Dami told him ahead of entering the villa, Martin explained: “He said, 'Do your thing, be yourself and everyone else will get to know you, and get to see why we're friends.' He was saying, 'You tell the boys on a night out, “This is how to talk to a girl”, now go and show them how it's done.' I was like, I can do that!”
When asked what he was excited for, the Dubliner said: “I'm excited to go in, cause some confusion, some little problems. It's a 50/50 chance - win or lose - but I'm a winner.”
On what kind of Islander he will be, Martin continued: “I'm going to show what I'm like on the outside; I like to have fun and do my thing. If I like someone, I'm just going to say. And then if I like someone else, I'm just going to go for that. I'm going to explore my options and just be myself.”
Talking about his dating technique that “works every time”, he said: “I send a rose emoji in the DMs - it works every time. The girl will say, 'Thank you...' and then the conversation just flows.”
He continued: “A key selling point is my body. My body's great. My arms, they get the girls going.”
In a warning to other Islanders, the 27-year-old said: “To the boys: ‘Hold tight to your girls’. To the girls: ‘I'm coming!’”
Speaking about his day job, Martin admitted: “I'm a nerd, I have a really nerdy job. I'm into really nerdy stuff. I think the girls like it, but I don't admit it initially, they see it later.”
Talking about who he would like to couple up with, Martin said: “I don't just have one person, I've got options.
“What I go for in a partner is honesty, for the non-physical side. For the physical side, a nice face.” Love Island continues Sunday at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
