Dublin woman reveals excitement at featuring in new BBC show

A Dublin jeweller is joining the cast of an innovative show helping craftspeople transform their skills into profits.

Annelies Webb, originally from Dublin 7, will take part in Make it at Market. The non-competitive series will debut on BBC One in January and will be presented by The Repair Shop’s expert craftsman Dominic Chinea.

The craftswoman started her small business Me Jewellies after moving to Glasgow. She first fell in love with jewellery design after completing a silversmithing course in The School of Jewellery Ireland, her trade having blossomed steadily over the years.

Annelies said: “When I got the call that I was picked to be on the show, I actually couldn’t believe it! This is such an amazing opportunity for me and my small business to be featured on a BBC series – it’s a pinch me moment.”

She added: “I love the fact that it’s not a competition and it’s just people helping other people make something out of their passion.”

The series will feature a mix of jewellers, glassblowers, blacksmiths, weavers and woodworkers, who are all trying to mould their passions into concrete profits. Each episode involves participants selling their labours of love at large-scale markets across the UK, with the assistance of a designated mentor.

The show is filmed in the stunning grounds of Stoneywell, an arts and crafts house located in Leicestershire. Annelies will feature alongside 14 other contestants hoping to make their mark in the crafting industry.

Make it at Market will air on BBC One on January 11 at 4.30pm.
