Dublin weather: 'Unsettled' conditions to continue as Met Eireann forecast heavy rain

We will have to wait a bit longer for sunny conditions to return as the bad weather spell continues.

Today will be dry at first early this morning with passing showers in Dublin. Outbreaks of rain will develop from mid to late morning that may be quite heavy at times.

The rain will clear early in the afternoon with brighter weather and occasional showers following. Showers likely in the Dublin area during the evening. Highest temperatures will reach 19 or 20 degrees with a mostly light to moderate northwest wind.

Mainly dry tomorrow with just the chance of a passing shower or two. There will be a mix of cloud and some sunny spells with mostly light westerly breezes. Highest temperatures of 18 or 19 degrees.

While there is no further forecast for Dublin, here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:

Friday

"A dull, overcast and muggy day with intermittent rain and rather brisk southwest winds. Rain will be most persistent along western coasts, with strong onshore winds here. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees.

Saturday

"A mix of cloud and sunny spells with a moderate to fresh westerly wind. There will be scattered showers, mainly across the north and west. Highest temperatures will range from 16 degrees in the northwest up to 21 degrees in the southeast.

Sunday

"There is some uncertainty but current indications are showing showery conditions on Sunday and quite breezy. Highest temperatures ranging 16 to 21 degrees, coolest across the northwest."

Further outlook

"Looking rather unsettled early next week with low pressure likely near Ireland. Temperatures in the high teens."
