Met Eireann has issued a nasty forecast for Dublin as heavy rain and gusty winds will batter the city.
Prolonged showers will dominate for the next couple of days but there is some good news as the weekend will bring drier weather. Today will see plenty of sunny spells and showers with some showers turning heavy or prolonged with the risk of isolated thunderstorms later.
Fresh and gusty winds could result in wave overtopping in the coastal areas during high tide. Daytime temperatures will be around 12 or 13 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:
Friday night
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Showers will become mostly confined to Atlantic coastal counties on Friday night with long dry and clear spells developing elsewhere. Lowest temperatures 3 to 5 degrees as strong westerly winds ease overnight.
Saturday
"Sunny spells and scattered showers on Saturday, there is the chance of a spell of more persistent rain affecting southern counties for a time. Highest temperatures 10 to 13 degrees with light winds to moderate westerly winds.
"Clear spells and isolated showers Saturday night. Lowest temperatures zero to plus 2 degrees in moderate northerly breezes.
Sunday
"Sunday is expected to be drier with some sunshine and isolated showers, mainly affecting the north and northeast of the country. Highest temperatures 7 to 10 degrees in a moderate to fresh northerly breeze.
"A dry and clear night on Sunday night will allow temperatures to fall well below freezing as winds fall light."
