Dublin weather today: Met Eireann forecasts dramatic 14C temperature swing

Good morning, folks! Met Eireann has issued a weird forecast for the next few days as temperatures are set to fluctuate wildly.

While the mercury will drop to as low as 0 degrees this week, the weather is set to make a massive U-turn as temperatures will hit as high as 18 degrees this May bank holiday weekend. Dublin will bask in glorious sunny spells and warm temperatures.

Met Eireann has forecasted a huge temperature swing for today as daytime temperatures will hit the highs of 14 degrees while the mercury will plummet to as low as 1 degree tonight. Today will start off bright before becoming mostly cloudy with limited sunny spells for the rest of the day.

Tonight will be mostly dry under broken cloud with a touch of frost under clearer skies. The lowest temperatures will be around 1 to 5 degrees.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle slowly moving in later in the day. The highest temperatures will be around 10 to 14 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Wednesday night

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Mostly dry under broken cloud with a touch of frost under clearer skies. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees in light easterly breezes.

Thursday

"Some sunny spells early on with increasing cloud and scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle slowly feeding up from the southwest. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees, in light east to southeast breezes.

Thursday night

"Patches of rain early, becoming mainly confined to western coasts overnight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in light easterly or variable breezes. Some mist or shallow fog patches too.

Friday

"Scattered showers will largely affect the western half of the country with the best the bright or sunny spells further east. Highest temperatures generally of 13 to 16 degrees in just light southerly breezes.

Weekend

"A mix of cloud and sunny spells with scattered April showers. Very mild with highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in very light southerly breezes."
