Dublin weather: Thundery showers to continue before dramatic temperature drop

Good morning, folks! It looks like we're in for a dramatic temperature drop.

Met Eireann is predicting the mercury will plummet to as low as 15 degrees on Sunday, so it might be time to bring out some warm clothes. The dramatic change comes after Ireland basked in gorgeous 20-degree weather over the last few weeks.

Dubliners will wake up to a dry morning but showers will develop from early afternoon onwards, with some turning heavy with a few thunderstorms possible. They will continue into the evening but will become isolated by nightfall. Daytime temperatures will be around 20 to 22 degrees.

Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells and a few isolated showers. The temperatures will hit the lows of 8 to 13 degrees.

Tomorrow will see sunny spells with a good deal of dry weather and some scattered showers. The highest temperatures will be around 19 to 23 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Friday

"Friday will be mostly cloudy with spells of rain through the day, possibly heavy at times. Some brighter intervals will develop also. Highest temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees with mostly moderate southerly winds. Friday night will be very mild with further spells of rain and temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees.

Saturday

"Saturday will be warm with spells of rain or showers, heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Sunday

"Sunday will be a cooler, fresher day with sunshine and showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly breezes."
