Dublin weather: Thunderstorms and hail to batter the city in dramatic Met Eireann forecast

Good morning, folks! It looks like there's going to be some pretty intense thunderstorms and hail coming our way.

Met Eireann has issued a dramatic forecast for today as unsettled weather will grip Dublin. The national forecaster has warned of thundery downpours and the risk of hail and flooding.

Today will start with showers developing and a mix of cloud and sunny spells in the morning. The showers will turn heavy with thunderstorms developing after the afternoon and evening bringing the risk of hail and localised flooding.

Temperatures will be around 20 to 22 degrees. Tonight will be mostly dry with just isolated showers possible. Temperatures will range from 10 to 14 degrees.

Tomorrow will see a mix of cloud and sunny spells with scattered showers in the morning. Some of these showers will turn heavy or thunder in the afternoon and evening. Daytime temperatures will be around 20 to 22 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Wednesday night

"Any lingering heavy showers in the east will clear away quickly to leave a dry night for most with long clear spells though a few light showers may affect Atlantic coastal counties. Temperatures not falling below 8 to 13 degrees in light variable breezes.

Thursday

"Spells of sunshine and well scattered showers, not as heavy or as widespread as previous days with plenty of dry intervals in between. During the evening, cloud will build from the southwest with outbreaks of rain and drizzle following towards nightfall.

"Highest temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees in light, occasionally moderate southerly or variable winds, freshening in the southwest and west towards nightfall.

Thursday night

"Very muggy as outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, extend from the southwest through the night though parts of the northeast will stay dry till morning. Temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southerly winds."
