Dublin weather: The capital to bask in glorious 18C highs for May bank holiday weekend

You can put away those woolies now as Met Eireann has forecasted a warm bank holiday weekend.

Dublin will bask in the highs of 18 degrees as high pressure will take over. However, it's not all good news as the national forecaster has also warned of widespread rain.

Today will start off dull but it will turn sunny with scattered showers. The highest temperatures will be around 15 to 17 degrees.

Tonight will be clear at first but cloudy conditions will build later. The lowest temperatures will be around 7 to 9 degrees.

Tomorrow will see some good sunny spells with scattered showers in the afternoon, with a few turning heavy. Temperatures will be around 15 to 18 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Saturday night

"There'll be clear spells and isolated showers at first on Saturday night, before cloudier conditions and showery rain develops later. Lowest temperatures 8 to 11 degrees in light southerly or variable breezes.

Sunday

"Showery rain on Sunday morning will clear eastwards to leave a day of sunny spells and widespread showers, some heavy. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees, coolest along Atlantic coasts as light southwesterly breezes gradually increase moderate westerly.

"Any lingering showers will die out and Sunday night will be mainly dry. Lowest temperatures 7 to 9 degrees in mostly light westerly winds.

Monday

"Sunny spells and scattered showers for Monday, with most areas becoming dry by evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees generally in a light to moderate northwesterly wind, a degree or so cooler in parts of Ulster due to that northwesterly wind."
