Good morning, folks! It's Christmas Eve and Met Eireann has some rather unfortunate news for us.
The national forecaster has issued a grim forecast for the next few days as temperatures are set to plummet to freezing. Thankfully, the cold weather won't last for too long but it's not all good news as stormy conditions are heading our way.
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said: "Weather models continue to show some stormy weather next week, especially Wednesday/Thursday. A risk of some strong winds, if you have outdoor plans then keep an eye on the forecast."

Today will start with some sunny spells in the morning but showers will push in from the west during the afternoon. Some of the showers will be heavy and the Met Eireann has warned of thunderstorms or a burst of small hail. Temperatures will be around 9 to 11 degrees.
Tonight will see showers becoming lighter and more isolated as the night goes on. Temperatures will be around 6 and 8 degrees.
Christmas Day will be mostly cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain but there will be a few bright or sunny spells. The highest temperatures will be around 7 to 10 degrees.
There is no further forecast for Dublin but here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:
Sunday (Christmas night)
"Cold with a widespread frost, an possibly some ice developing under mostly clear skies, however there will be a few wintry showers about too, mainly affecting northwestern coastal counties. Lowest temperatures of minus 2 to plus 2 degrees, in light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresher near the coast.
Monday (St Stephen's Day)
"A cold and brighter day with sunny spells and scattered showers, most frequent in western and northern coastal counties. The showers early in the day may fall as sleet in some parts, or even snow at times on higher ground although they will tend to transition back to rain as the day progresses. Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees.
Monday night
"While temperatures will drop back close to freezing once again on Monday night, it will quickly warm up as cloud and rain spreads from the west becoming widespread by morning. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees, coolest in the east early, but temperatures will rise considerably after midnight."
