Dublin weather: Met Eireann says thunderstorms to batter Ireland with major warning to hayfever sufferers

Get ready for a chaotic week as Met Eireann has forecasted major change for Ireland.

Although temperatures will stay in the late teens to low 20 degrees, the country will be gripped by unsettled weather with thunderstorms and unsettled weather battering Ireland. Meanwhile, hayfever sufferers have been urged to stay safe as pollen levels will be "very high" today and tomorrow, Met Eireann's pollen forecast warned.

Dubliners will enjoy a couple more days of calm weather before rain and thunderstorms hit. Today will be warm and humid with dry conditions throughout the day. The highest temperatures will be around 19 to 21 degrees.

Tonight will be mild and muggy with temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees. Dry and clear spells with a chance of a few mist and fog patches are expected.

Tomorrow will e dry with hazy sunshine with temperatures of 21 or 22 degrees, with the coastal areas being cooler thanks to as breezes. There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what Met Eireann's national outlook says:

Thursday night

"Any remaining showers will ease early in the night and it will become dry with clear spells for a time. Further showers will push into the south and southwest towards morning, turning heavy in places.

"Mild again with temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees in light southeasterly winds.

Friday

"Heavy and persistent showers will spread northwards to most areas through the day, with isolated thunderstorms possible. Not just as warm as previous days with highest temperatures of 19 degrees in the south to 24 degrees in the north in a light to moderate southeasterly breeze.

Friday night

"A very mild night with temperatures not falling below 14 to 16 degrees. Scattered showers will continue to feed up from the south in light southerly winds, with some heavy downpours."
