Dublin weather: Met Eireann's dull weekend forecast before sunshine makes a return

Met Eireann has issued a rather dreary forecast for the weekend with plenty of cloud.

Although temperatures will reach the highs of 19 degrees in some parts of Ireland, the rest of the country will see slightly lower temperatures. But it's not all bad news as the national forecaster said the weather will turn "drier and sunnier" early next week.

Today will be dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells and the highest temperatures of 16 or 17 degrees. Tonight will be dry and partly cloudy with temperatures hitting the lows of 9 to 11 degrees.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy and dry with patches of drizzle possible. The temperatures will be around 14 to 16 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Saturday night

"Staying mostly cloudy, with outbreaks of rain in the west and northwest slowly tracking southeastwards and becoming lighter. Patches of mist and fog will develop in light northerly or variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.

Sunday

"Mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, although some brighter spells will develop in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in the north and 16 to 19 degrees in the south, with light northerly winds.

Sunday night

"Generally cloudy with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, mainly in the south and east. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 11 degrees, coolest in the northwest, in a light north to northwest wind.

Monday

"Any rain will clear from the southeast on Monday morning and it will be mostly dry for the rest of the day with just isolated showers. Sunny spells will increase through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, warmest in the south, in a light to moderate north to northwest breeze."
