Dublin weather: Met Eireann's chaotic forecast as thundery showers to batter the city with flood warning

Thundery downpours are set to hit Dublin as Met Eireann has issued a chaotic forecast for the capital.

Today will be warm and humid with passing showers and some sunny spells. Some of these showers could turn heavy and thundery as the national forecaster has warned of possible spot flooding in parts of Dublin most affected by heavy rainfall.

The highest temperatures will be around 20 to 23 degrees with possible coastal mist or fog at times locally. Showers will clear away tonight giving way to dry and clear conditions with some mist and fog developing. It will be a warm night with temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees.

Tomorrow will be very hot with dry and sunny conditions, although it will be less warm along the coasts due to sea breezes. Top temperatures will be around 23 to 25 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Tuesday night

"A muggy night with showers early on in the west dying out. Dry and clear in many areas with some mist and fog forming. Temperatures not falling below 13 to 15 degrees with a light easterly breeze.

Wednesday

"Very warm or hot with temperatures reaching 23 to 27 degrees for most, less warm along coasts. Good spells of hazy sunshine although scattered heavy downpours or thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon and evening, most likely in the west and midlands. Light southeast breezes."
