Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecasts warm and sunny day as weekend scorcher on the way

Good morning, folks! Ireland has enjoyed some fabulous weather this week with bright, sunny days and warm temperatures.

The mini-heatwave is here to stay as the country will continue to bask in sizzling temperatures. An independent forecaster revealed that the mercury could be hitting mid-20 degrees or possibly higher locally next week.

Weather Alerts Ireland said on Facebook: "The ECMWF model is forecasting high pressure to remain around Ireland next week keeping the weather settled and dry! Temperatures are expected to rise over the coming days with temperatures over 20 degrees expected.

"Next week it looks like it could get very warm with temperatures into the mid-20s and possibly higher locally!"

Today will be bright with sunny spells in Dublin although there will be some cloudy periods. Temperatures will be around 18 to 20 degrees.

Tonight will be dry and mostly clear with the lows of 7 to 9 degrees. Tomorrow will be another dry day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what Met Eireann's national outlook says:

Friday night

"A mostly clear and calm night with lows of 6 to 10 degrees. Mist and fog patches will likely form.

Saturday

"Cloudy at times on Saturday with the odd shower possible. Mostly dry overall though, with occasional sunny breaks too. Light to moderate northwest breezes. Highs between 16 to 21 or 22 degrees, warmest in the south and southeast with the best of sunshine likely here.

Saturday night

"Variable cloud cover with some clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with light northerly winds.

Sunday

"Somewhat cooler on Sunday with highs ranging from 14 degrees in the north to around 19 degrees in the south. Some cloud with sunny spells, becoming mostly sunny later in the afternoon. Just light northeast breezes."
