Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecasts mostly dry and cold weather but 'band of rain' is on the way

Good morning, folks! Dublin is set for a week of mostly dry weather but there's a catch as Met Eireann has forecasted freezing temperatures.

While today will be largely dry, Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather warned of a "band of rain" moving across the country in the afternoon and evening. But apart from that, this morning will see some lovely spells of sunshine.

It will, however, become breezy as southwesterly winds increase fresh and gusty. The Highest temperatures will be around 8 to 10 degrees.

The evening rain won't last for too long as it will clear away tonight leaving a clear, and dry night. It will be cold with temperatures of 0 to 2 degrees.

Tomorrow will be another dry day with spells of sunshine. Temperatures will range between 7 to 9 degrees. There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Thursday night

"After a mostly clear start to the night, cloud will gradually build from the west with patchy light rain or drizzle developing in parts of the north, west and far southwest. Staying largely dry elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees, coldest in the south and southeast. Light to moderate southwesterly winds will be fresher at times in the northwest.

Friday

"Largely cloudy but there will be some hazy sunny spells. Overall, a good deal of dry weather but there will be a few outbreaks of light rain and drizzle at times, driest generally in the south and east. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresher along northern coasts.

Friday night

"Continuing mostly cloudy with limited clear spells. Dry for most with just isolated patches of light rain or drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees generally in mostly light southwesterly breezes with some mist and hill fog developing.

Saturday

"A good deal of cloud with some occasional sunny spells mixed in. Staying dry for most though some patchy light rain and drizzle is expected. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in light to moderate south to southwest breezes. Staying much the same overnight with temperatures falling to between 3 and 7 degrees."
