A weather expert has given us a time frame for when the "Beast from the East 2" is most likely to hit.
Those of us no longer believing the "Beast from the East 2" stories might be in for a surprise, as the popular weatherman has said that any possible impacts from a Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) would be around the end of month.
Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly said: "Many people asking about Beast from the East last week and it was 14 degrees [yesterday]. Any possible impacts from SSW would be around the end of the month but once again remember it doesn’t mean we will see Beast from the East so don’t be panicking."

As for today, the national forecaster Met Eireann said that the weather later this morning will be mostly dry for Dubs, with spells of hazy sunshine following for a time. They also warn: "However, during the afternoon a further spell of rain will begin to edge into Atlantic counties, extending nationwide later this evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds."
The weather tonight will be rather wet and breezy but the rain will ease off during the second half of the night. Some mist and fog will set in, as brisk southerlies ease. The lowest temperatures in Dublin for the evening will be between 5 and 8 degrees.
Tomorrow will have a damp and misty or foggy start with mostly cloudy skies. Fortunately, some sunny spells will develop with mostly dry conditions for a time.
However, patchy outbreaks of drizzle will follow later in the evening. Highest temperatures will be from 11 to 13 degrees and there will be west to southwest winds - mostly moderate before later freshening.
While there is no further forecast for Dublin, Met Eireann's national outlook says the weather will be "unsettled" before turning drier later this weekend and into early next week.
Thursday evening will be rather windy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, heaviest in the west and northwest. Temperatures could be as low as 8 to 11 degrees, in fresh to strong and gusty west to southwest winds with gales on Atlantic coasts.
Friday
"Brisk westerly winds will gradually abate on Friday morning. Cloudy and wet for a time with somewhat drier and brighter conditions setting in during the afternoon, all except the far southwest where rain and drizzle will linger. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, in moderating westerly winds."
Overnight, it will become wet again with hill, mist and coastal fog all in near calm. "The rain will be heavy at times with possible spot flooding. Turning drier but colder later. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 8 degrees, coldest in the northwest."
The weekend
"Some uncertainty in the forecast for the weekend. However, current indications suggest the winds will be mostly light with any lingering overnight rain clearing early Saturday morning with further falls of rain holding off until after dark. High pressure is then expected to build over Ireland on Sunday bringing lots of dry weather with some sunshine too."
