Weather experts are warning that the snowy weather is set to make a return heading into St Patrick's Day week, with Tuesday to see temperatures plummet.
On Thursday night, much of the country was under a Status Orange weather warning for snow and ice which caused disruption for many on Friday. While the snow has thawed out and given way to heavy rain this weekend, it look's like the snow could make a comeback from Monday onwards.
Independent expert Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather has indicated that the snow isn't finished with us yet, and he has predicted "a rollercoaster of weather" in the coming days. He wrote on Twitter on Saturday: "A rollercoaster of weather ahead with a very short blast of cold air again Monday night to Wednesday.

"A risk of wintry showers Monday night and band of rain Wednesday falling as snow before turning to rain. Some strong gusts Monday also," he added. Meanwhile, for those hoping to attend the Cheltenham Festival later next week they are being warned that heavy spells of rain up to 10mm to 20mm are expected by Tuesday morning with temperatures dipping to below zero, and 20mm to 35mm of rain is expected by Friday morning.
Meanwhile, Met Eireann has also warned of more bad weather on the cards with "unsettled weather" expected with low pressure in the Atlantic feeding in rain and showers across Ireland, occasionally wintry in parts, and bringing blustery winds at times too. They added: "With a rather disturbed picture for the week, rain and perhaps wind warnings are possible, while winter warnings can’t be ruled out especially in the north and northwest."
Here's Met Eireann's forecast for the coming days:
Saturday night
"Mainly dry tonight with some clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees and moderate southwesterly winds.
Sunday
"Mainly cloudy and mild tomorrow with a little patchy rain at times. A band of more persistent rain will develop later in the day. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees, in moderate to fresh southerly winds.
Sunday night
"A windy night with widespread rain or showers, some of which may be heavy. Lowest temperatures of around 7 to 9 degrees generally, though possibly turning colder in the northwest towards morning. Fresh and gusty southwesterly winds will be strong at times in coastal areas.
Monday
"Widespread showers or longer spells of rain, turning wintry in nature later over northern hills as strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds develop over the country, bringing coastal gales. Some bright or sunny spells will develop too in parts in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees in the west and northwest but milder at 10 to 12 degrees elsewhere.
"Monday night looks very cold with moderate west to northwest winds and lowest temperatures close to freezing across the country. There will be some wintry showers feeding in also with some sleet or snow in places."
Tuesday looks to be a cold day with highest values of 4 to 7 degrees. It will bring a good deal of dry bright weather with sunny spells but a scattering of showers too, especially early in the day, and there is potential for these showers to fall as sleet on higher ground.
