Met Eireann has forecast a mostly dry day ahead, with a weather expert warning that Ireland may be in for a big change with an "increased risk of cold" conditions with a SSW event still likely.
According to Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly, the Sudden Stratospheric Warming event will start in the coming days with winds forecast to reverse by Tuesday. He wrote in an update on Twitter: "Once again though any impact on our weather is uncertain, will be around 2 weeks away. It doesn’t mean beast from East, it increases risk of cold."

He added: "Latest weather model updates show mainly dry up to Tuesday but then the two main models are divided. ECMWF has some heavy rain Tuesday night and Wednesday night but GFS has much less. Wait and see for now beyond Tuesday."
Meanwhile, Met Eireann have pinpointed the end of February into the start of March as the date Ireland would be impacted by the weather phenomenon, but they have cautioned that its exact impacts are still uncertain this far out.
