Dublin weather: Bleak forecast for St Patrick's Day as washout predicted

Met Eireann has warned the public of a St Patrick's Day washout as heavy showers are expected.

The forecast predicts that outbreaks of rain and drizzle will affect Dublin this morning. However, these weather conditions will eventually give way to brighter spells by the afternoon.

Drier intervals will follow this evening for the east of the country, although some rainfall should still be expected. Daytime temperatures will hit highs of between 11 to 13 degrees.

A few scattered showers will follow later tonight before dying out. Patches of mist will likely develop later on tonight, with more unsettled weather expected on Saturday.

The national forecast for the next few days is listed below.

Saturday

Saturday will start off dry over much of Ireland with some bright intervals. Rain in the west will spread eastwards, reaching the east coast by early afternoon. Sunny spells will follow and rain will clear by early evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light southerly breezes, becoming moderate to fresh northwesterly as rain clears

Saturday night

Saturday night will be cold and dry with clear spells. Fresh northwest winds will ease and become light. Frost and some icy patches will develop. Some patches of mist also. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees.

Sunday

Sunday will start off dry with some sunny spells. Rain will develop in the west during the morning and spread eastwards to all areas through the afternoon. Highest temperatures 8 to 10 degrees moderate south to southeast breezes.

On Sunday night, rain will continue and will be most persistent over the northern half of the country. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with moderate southerly breezes.
